IAM Online webinar: AARC extensions to the REFEDS Assurance Framework – 27 June

Registration is open for a live webinar on 27 June (postponed from 13 May) to explain extensions to the REFEDS Assurance Framework (RAF) and implementations that were devised in the AARC project. This webinar is aimed at Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI) architects and technical decision makers for research collaboration. Connection details are available via the registration page – registration is open.

In this webinar:

The webinar will take place on 13 May at 15:00-16:00 CEST. The presenters are Davide Vaghetti (GARR) and Uros Stevanovic (KIT). In this webinar:

  • They will explain how AARC developed extensions to the RAF and what this means in practice.
  • They will show how different assurance profiles can be evaluated and combined together.
  • They will demonstrate how the assurance evaluation and combination can be implemented in a proxy based infrastructure.
  • You will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Why did AARC extend RAF?

The REFEDS Assurance Framework was explained in a previous webinar.

The AARC (Authentication and Authorisation for Research and Collaboration) project developed additional guidance to facilitate the exchange of assurance information across infrastructures (or between SP-IdP-Proxy components of infrastructures).

Supplementary AARC and IGTF assurance profiles targeting the specific research and infrastructures’ needs in terms of risk profiles help out: shared assurance profiles inspired by the Service Provider and infrastructure requirements can be exchanged directly and help evaluate identity assurance information for the attributes and authenticator presented both by the user’s home organisations via the R&E federations and from supplementary sources when enabling federated access-to-access services.

Further information

The 27 June webinar will be recorded and made permanently available via the IAM Online YouTube channel from AARC, REFEDS, GÉANT, InCommon and Internet2.

The AARC project and REFEDS (Research & Education Federations) worked together to produce the REFEDS Assurance Framework (RAF), which was approved in October 2018, and AARC guidelines on assurance.
